Windows 10 in numbers

At the moment, more than 94% of Indian systems are running Windows, but only a small percentage of them are running Windows 10. This is not the best considering Windows 10 is the safest variant of the OS and the only one able to protect systems against ransomware such as WannaCry and Petya. India desires to achieve a mass upgrade to Windows 10 because it would lead to smaller infection rates and improved protection against new hacks. While we still don’t have any information available regarding the discount being discussed for Windows 10, the discussions for the price cut started just after the WannaCry attack from May according to a report released by Reuters. Currently, Windows 10 Home is 7,999 rupees ($124) in India and the Pro SKU costs 14,999 rupees ($232).

Windows 10 to become more affordable in India

India’s security coordinator, Gulshan Rai, stated that a deal for Windows 10 is very close to being reached but didn’t provide any more details being that Microsoft could be involved in deals with other countries, as well. The deal will be a one-time upgrade offer to Windows 10 and will include a discounted price for the OS all around India. This will definitely turn out to be a win-win deal, something Microsoft is interested in it because this will help the company boost the adoption of its latest OS. RELATED STORIES TO CHECK OUT:
