One of the main people of Xbox, Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson), announced this addition a couple of days ago on Twitter: “In addition to Windows 10, starting today Xbox Wireless Adapter now supports Windows 7 & 8.1” Xbox Wireless Adapter allows users to connect their Xbox One controllers with their Windows PCs wirelessly. Before the release of this gadget, users were only able to connect Xbox One Controllers with the PC via USB cable. Prior to bringing the support for Xbox Wireless Adapter to Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, Microsoft also provided a support for Xbox 360 Controllers to older versions of the system, so you can connect your controllers with a PC, regardless of which version of Xbox you have. When Microsoft released Xbox Wireless adapter, it was limited only to Windows 10 users. Many people interpreted this as Microsoft’s way to encourage even more people to upgrade to Windows 10, but the fact that the support for older versions of Windows has been introduced tells us that this is not true.
