According to Microsoft, “Windows 10 Pro Education builds on the commercial version of Windows 10 Pro and provides important management controls needed in schools. Windows 10 Pro Education is effectively a variant of Windows 10 Pro that provides education-specific default settings, including the removal of Cortana. These default settings disable tips, tricks and suggestions & Windows Store suggestions. More detailed information on these default settings is available in Manage Windows 10 and Windows Store tips, tricks and suggestions.” All devices that come pre-installed with the new Anniversary Update will also have Windows 10 Pro Education SKU pre-installed. The K-12 academic licenses will be discounted and customers who purchase Windows 10 Pro devices with discounted K-12 licenses will get Windows 10 Pro Education alongside the Anniversary Update. In the coming weeks, Microsoft will announce more information about Windows 10 Pro Workspace, as well. As for the Anniversary Update, it will introduce an upgraded Cortana, phone app syncing, automatic time zones, Project to PC, Windows Hello (which will allow users to unlock their devices using the camera to scan their faces), Windows Ink (which will enable Surface owners to take full advantage of the stylus pen), Microsoft Edge’s extension support, Xbox Play Anywhere (which will allow gamers to play their favorite games across multiple devices) and a universal version of Skype.
