The new update is expected to bring a host of new features to the operating system in order to fully mature it. In its current form, Windows 10 for both PC and Mobile is missing a lot, and the Anniversary Update is Microsoft’s way of rectifying the issue. We doubt everyone will immediately download the Anniversary Update exactly on August 2. The rollout only begins on August 2, which means it will be some time before all 350 million Windows 10 users manage to fully upgrade. The software giant did a similar thing back in 2015 when Windows 10 was released for the first time when computer users were not allowed to upgrade at the same time as everything was done in stages. The first batch of computer users to get the update were asked to reserve their copy of the operating system and then from there, Microsoft moved forward. While it’s a larger pool of users now, we expect the software giant to take the same or similar steps. Here’s what Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider Program, had to say about the planned rollout next month: “It’s going to take some time,” she said. “We’ll start with PC and phone, and it’s going to be a global rollout. It’s going to take time. Everyone’s going to freak out wondering ‘where’s my update?’, ‘is it time yet?’ and ‘it didn’t come’. So it’s going to take a little while to roll out to everybody.” When it comes to the Xbox One and HoloLens, well, that’s a tough question.
