The tech giant has limited the access to only a few insiders in the Skip Ahead ring. Check for updates to see if you’re among the lucky Insiders. Microsoft has taken advantage of the Windows 10 build 18865 to test the Chromium-based Edge browser. This version is expected to be released in the spring of 2020 as a part of the Windows 10 20H1 update. Reports suggest this is actually a limited experiment, that is why the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge version is not available to all the users. T herefore, even if you are a part of the Windows Insider program, you might have to wait until Microsoft make it available to all the Insiders.

Exciting new features coming your way soon

Microsoft is currently working hard to redesign its new Edge browser using the Chromium’s rendering engine. The tech giant has also launched a dedicated page explaining the features it plans to bring to Chromium-Edge. Additionally, the company has also added a new extension page for the Edge browser. The new Chromium-based Edge experience has inherited features from both the classic Edge and Chrome browser. Microsoft already stated that rather than linking a Google account, your Microsoft account will be linked to the browser instead. Microsoft plans to bring many new exciting features to the stable release of the Edge browser. As a quick reminder, the company is also working to offer the smooth scrolling feature aiming to help users in scrolling on a web or Excel page much faster. Insiders who got the chance to test Edge confirmed the browser is only available in Windows Sandbox. Go to this location to check if you’ve got access to the browser:  C:\Users\WDAGUtilityAccount\AppData \Local\MicrosoftEdge. Since this is only a test version, the current version of the browser has not been replaced yet. Microsoft didn’t bother to create a shortcut either for the same reason.
