In March 19, 2019, Microsoft declared that 91% of Fortune 100 corporations used Teams. One year later, the company announced that 93% of Fortune 100 companies used the platform. In addition, the Office 365 tool had over 44 million active users per day by March 19, 2020. So how’s Microsoft coping with the growing demand for collaboration software? There are many appropriate responses, and one of them is increasing the number of people that can take part in a Teams meeting.
Microsoft Teams to allow up to 300 Meetings participants
According to a Microsoft 365 Roadmap notification, Teams will soon allow up to 300 chats and Meetings participants. The platform’s current capacity is 250 people per meeting. This feature should have started rolling out already to Teams users. However, the rollout ends by June 30. So you shouldn’t worry if you haven’t received the update yet. Teams’ integration with other Office 365 solutions gives it a competitive advantage over its closest rivals. For example, Teams is a natural option to many enterprise customers already using apps like Power BI, Outlook, etc. Nonetheless, Microsoft has to pull up its socks in other key areas where Teams doesn’t have an automatic advantage. So, expanding the maximum number of users per meeting to 300 or more is certainly a step in the right direction. The maximum number of video conferencing participants that can appear in a single screen simultaneously is another area in which Teams is playing catch up. While Zoom supports up to 49, Microsoft recently increased Teams’ capacity to 9. However, reports suggest that Teams will soon match its rival’s capacity.
