Rest in peace, Xbox One

Microsoft is currently offering only retail versions of the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X on its online store. Only $199 refurbished models of the original Xbox One are available. The original Xbox One looked like a VCR unit when it was first released four years ago, and it was priced $100 more than Sony’s PlayStation 4. Due to the gap and the fall out from Microsoft’s mixed messaging on the Xbox One, Sony managed to take an early lead in the whole console war. Microsoft closed the price gap by eliminating the Kinect sensor from the Xbox One after half a year since the console’s debut on the market. The Xbox One did its best to match the sales pace of the PlayStation 4, but Microsoft decided that it was about time it refocused its efforts on improved hardware and games.
