Microsoft will replace the affected devices for free

Microsoft explained in detail the issue via an official announcement. The company says that only a small number of devices are having this problem and offers the much-awaited solution as well. All units that are up to three years from the date of purchase would be replaced free of cost, of course.

Rules for the replacement process

Here’s how the replacement process is set to take place. For starters, users have to make sure that they have taken all the latest Surface and Windows Update because they aim to keep devices running smoothly. If the screen flickering is still there even after users install all the updates, they have to contact Microsoft support. After an agent determines that a specific device is eligible for replacement, users will have to prepare the Surface for service. A replacement device will be sent to the user as soon as they return the damaged one. An exchange device usually arrives in about 5 to 8 business days. Microsoft also made sure to note that no other damage will qualify for a replacement and customers who paid for a screen replacement on their device will get a refund. Read the complete announcement.
