The Windows 8.1 3D Builder app is an awesome free 3D printing app that we’ve included in the best Windows 8 apps for the past week (November 2013). The app has been released in the Windows Store only a week ago, but it has already received an early update that fixes some annoying bugs and improves performance. In a recent post on the Extreme Windows Blog, Gavin Gear from Microsoft explains how you can use the 3D Builder app to import, view, manipulate, and print 3D models on your Windows 8.1 device. He recaps the main features of the app:

Support for importing .3mf, .obj, and .stl files Built-in library of ready to print 3D models Move, rotate, and scale models on the virtual build platform Print multiple models simultaneously Easy panning, rotation, and zooming of view Select, duplicate, and delete individual models Works with any 3D printer that has Windows 8.1 driver
