The company recently rolled out KB4052231 and KB4052232, two updates that aim at focusing the exact same issue on two different Windows 10 versions. The official description of these updates reads as follows: Addressed issue where applications based on the Microsoft JET Database Engine (Microsoft Access 2007 and older or non-Microsoft applications) fail when creating or opening Microsoft Excel .xls files. The error message is, “Unexpected error from external database driver (1). (Microsoft JET Database Engine)”
KB4052231 bugs
Unfortunately, KB4052231 is not free of bugs. Microsoft listed three known issues on the list:
Users may encounter an error indicating that an app exception has occurred when closing some applications. This can affect applications that use mshtml.dll to load web content and affects only processes that are shutting down. If you set the text size for icons to a larger size, you may occasionally have issues launching Internet Explorer. UWP applications that use JavaScript and asm.js may stop working.

KB4052232 issues
As far as the KB4052232 bugs are concerned, there is only one known issue on the list. Internet Explorer may sometimes fail to launch if you’re using large text size on display. As a workaround, you can reduce the text size for icons to a smaller value. That should lessen the issue.
