8 Best Windows 8 apps for this week

That’s why, the coming of the dedicated Windows 8 app for Discovery Channel will be greatly appreciated by those with Windows 8 devices. You can get see a lot of clips and full episodes from famous Discovery Channel shows like the Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, MythBusters. Everything inside the app is about videos, so be sure not to get lost while browsing for your favorite show!

LeKiosk [Free]

Being informed is important and that’s why news apps on Windows 8 have been looked for since Day 1. The first 3D digital newsstand now has an app for Windows 8 users. You will find such magazines as :

Glamour Vogue GQ Men’s Fitness BBC Lonely Planet Magazine

and many, many others. Currently, you can get 10 magazines for €9.99, so if you are among those loyal readers, you should hurry up. You don’t need to wait for your magazine downloads to finish as you can start reading immediately. Everything is stored nicely in your virtual library. Still, if you ask me, I preffer physical paper.

Animal Planet [Free]

SPONSORED Animal Planet for Windows 8 is here, developed by the same company behind Discovery Channel, as they are part of the same media corporation. Therefore, the app has the same design, identical with Discovery Channel. Install the Animal Planet app for Windows 8 and RT to be able to watch the following shows

River Monsters Finding Bigfoot Pit Bulls Parolees

Chicago Blackhawks [Free]

If you’re a hockey fan, if you live in Chicago and if you have a Windows 8 device, then you definitely need to install the official Windows 8 app for Chicago Blackhawks. The app is divided in three big sections: you can get Blackhawks news in the first one,  find the nearest Official Blackhawks Bar to be along with those that share your passion and discover player cards, bios and stats in the last one. Everything for the Blackhawk inside you!

Save The Hamsters [Free]

Yes, Save the Hamsters is one of those games that look awfully similar to Angry Birds, having the menu and the gameplay mimicking that of the famous game. However, the hamsters in this game are soooo cute that you’ll become addicted right away, I can guarantee you that! But you don’t throw hamsters in this game but you destroy the boxes below them to find a solution to a simple equation. This is a great game for those that can’t stop their kids from touching a tablet but in the same time, they want them to learn math.

McAfee Central [Free]

McAfee is on of the most appreciated antivirus solutions in the world, and every new release from the company is worthy of getting. And since there are so many solutions an antivirus company can provide, the McAfee Central Windows 8 app comes as a central location that will allow users to manage subscriptions and receive protection status updates as well as access to McAfee software features. McAfee Central is a must-have Windows 8 app for McAfee users all over the world.

Train Sim [$1.29]

Train Sim is the single paid Windows 8 app in our first weekly top and it is here to try and support the developers further in their endeavour. The app doesn’t have a great rating and there are still bugs but the concept is interesting. I also don’t like the graphics too much and I suggest the devs to try their best and do something in this direction. Please make it better looking and we’ll appreciate that!
